bearing it is imported.
The label used by Messrs. Ferodeau and Company,
the firm responsible for the consinment of spirits
seized by the liong Kong Customs authorities, is
clearly calculated to create a false impression of the
origin of the spirits and I aa therefore to suest for
the consideration of Kr. secretary lienderson that the
French Government should be invited to investigate this
practice of messrs. Perodeau and Company and should be
asked to take steps to prevent in future the false
description of spirits of French manufacture as scotch
whisky.
The Board h ve not been supplied with the address of
dessrs. Ferodeau and Company but they observe that the
spirit was accompanied by a certificate of age relating
to brandy, sined by the Mayor of Cognac, and this fact
may enable the French Government to trace the fira.
A copy of this letter is being sent to the
Colonial office.
I have the honour to be,
wir,
Your oveaient Servant,
(Signed) H. FOUNTAIN.
